NEC Home Electronics and Hudson Soft has made a collaboration to come out with a home console called TurboGrafx-16 for the Japanese market and PC Engine for France. It was first released in 1987 for the Japanese market. Two years later, they released the console in the United States. Initially, the TurboGrafx-16 try to compete with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) but it sold poorly.
