Nintendo new partner, DeNA, have layoff number of their employees. Despite of having better business opportunity with their partnership with Nintendo, they state through GameBeat:
“DeNA Group is continually evaluating its game development operations to ensure that it’s structured in the best possible way to deliver high-quality mobile games to consumers worldwide”
As part of DeNA partnership with Nintendo, they acquired 1.24 percent stake in Nintendo with Nintendo bought 10 percent stake in DeNA.
It is unsure either they do it to look good on paper. But laying off employees while doing a good business might not reflect a good practice for game developers and fans. Maybe the move made by DeNA is not expected from their employees too.
